Oranges

I walked my fingers across your bare chest, hoping you’d feel my presence and want to take all those spite filled words back.

You rolled over staring into my eyes, “You’re like an orange.” Already confused as to where this was going I nodded for you to go on, “Some days you’re sour, others you’re sweet. You’ve turned into a blind taste test. When your eyes flicker from brown to green I know the bitterness is coming out in full swing. But when your eyes change to brown my heart skips a beat. All I can think of those lips falling onto my mine, oh so sweet”

What was I to say back? Already out on a limb from the fight from last night. I got out of bed filled with our memories and walked. Allowing for all of my “bitterness” fall off, like layers of skin turning to dust. Shortly after I returned, my lips locked with yours. I wanted you to know I left all the anger on the other side of the door.
